The Fine Print Report
Low fine print. A simple flat earn rate with no FX fee; the welcome offer and penalty rate are the main conditions.
10,000 of the bonus needs $60,000 spendImpact level: Medium
The last part of the welcome bonus needs $60,000 in a year, and past Scotiabank business cardholders are excluded
30,000 points need $5,000 in purchases in the first 3 months; the other 10,000 need $60,000 in the first 12 months. Anyone who has been a primary or secondary cardholder of a Scotiabank business credit card in the past 2 years isn't eligible. On joint accounts, the bonus goes to whichever borrower made the qualifying last purchase.
Why it matters: Most businesses will earn 30,000 points, not 40,000.
2 missed payments: 25.99% rateImpact level: Medium
Two missed payments in 12 months raise your rates to 25.99% and 27.99%
If you miss the minimum payment 2 or more times in any 12-month period, the rates rise to 25.99% on purchases and 27.99% on cash advances, balance transfers and credit card cheques, until you make 12 consecutive minimum payments on time.
Why it matters: A business that sometimes carries a balance pays far more after two late payments.
Supplementary cards: $0 or $50?Impact level: Low
The product page says supplementary cards are free; the disclosure charges $50 each
The product page lists supplementary cards at $0. The card disclosure in the welcome kit charges $0 for a secondary (co-borrower) card but $50 for each supplementary card, billed when the card is issued.
Why it matters: Ask Scotiabank which applies before adding employee cards; the disclosure is the contract.
6 free lounge visits, then you payImpact level: Low
Only 6 lounge visits a year are free, and only for the primary cardholder's membership
The Visa Airport Companion membership is for primary cardholders and includes 6 complimentary visits a year; further visits, including guests beyond those 6, are charged to the card.
Why it matters: Frequent travellers or teams will pay for most lounge visits.
Scene+ expiry terms applyImpact level: Low
Unused Scene+ points follow Scene+'s cancellation and expiry terms
Points are earned into Scene+, and any unused points are subject to the cancellation or expiration terms of the Scene+ program, not the card agreement.
Why it matters: Scene+ rules, including inactivity rules, can change without a change to the card.

The Verdict
The Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Business is a premium business travel card with no foreign transaction fees, 1.5 Scene+ points on every purchase, 6 free lounge visits a year and a broad travel insurance package, including 25 days of medical cover.
The fine print is moderate: the last 10,000 welcome points need $60,000 in a year, two missed payments raise the rate to 25.99%, only 6 lounge visits are free, and the product page and disclosure disagree on the supplementary card fee.
The Recommendation: Best for business owners who travel or buy in foreign currencies and want one flat earn rate and strong travel insurance. Businesses that spend mostly in Canada in a few categories will earn more with a category card.
