The Fine Print Report
Moderate fine print. Large multipliers on low-value points, a booking-site requirement for the best earn, and personal liability.
Points worth 0.4–0.5¢; 9x ≈ 4.5%Impact level: Medium
Points are worth at most 0.5¢, so 9x is about 4.5% and 2x is about 1%
On Expedia For TD, the first 300,000 points redeemed in a year are worth $1 per 250 points (0.4¢) and points beyond that $1 per 200 (0.5¢). Other redemptions are worth the same or less.
Why it matters: The headline multipliers look large but convert to modest returns: 2x on everyday spending is about 0.8% to 1%.
Best earn and value need Expedia For TDImpact level: Medium
The 9x rate and best point value need Expedia For TD
Only travel booked online through Expedia For TD earns 9 points (6 by phone). Flights and hotels booked directly with the airline or hotel earn the standard 2 points.
Why it matters: Booking direct gives up most of the travel earn, and Expedia's prices and change rules apply.
120,000 of the bonus needs $15,000 spendImpact level: Medium
Most of the welcome bonus needs $15,000 in 180 days, and the last part arrives in month 15
Only 30,000 points come with the first purchase. 120,000 need $15,000 in purchases within 180 days, 30,000 need $25,000 within 365 days, and 20,000 need a purchase in the 15th billing cycle, after the second annual fee is charged. You're not eligible if you've opened an account in the last 12 months.
Why it matters: The full 200,000 means spending $25,000 in a year and paying the $149 fee in year 2.
You're personally liable for the balanceImpact level: Medium
The business, the person who applied and the cardholder are each liable for everything owed
The cardholder, the business and the individual borrower who requested the account are jointly and severally liable for all amounts owed. If you miss a minimum payment, TD can demand the full balance and, without notice, take money from any other account you hold with TD Bank Group.
Why it matters: If the business can't pay, TD can collect from you personally and from your personal TD accounts.
Medical: 15 days, 4 at 65+Impact level: Medium
Travel medical covers only 15 days of a trip, or 4 days at 65 or older
Travel medical insurance covers trips of up to 15 days if you're under 65, and 4 days if you or your spouse is 65 or older. The days you leave and return each count as a full day.
Why it matters: Longer trips need a top-up policy bought before you leave.

2 late payments: higher rateImpact level: Medium
Two late minimum payments in 12 statements raise your rate until you make six on time
If TD doesn't receive the minimum payment on time twice within 12 consecutive statement periods, the rates rise to the higher rates in your Disclosure Statement until you make six consecutive minimum payments on time. Since July 2, 2026, unpaid interest is also added to the balance and charged interest.
Why it matters: A business that sometimes carries a balance pays more after two late payments. Automatic minimum payments avoid this.
Points lost if TD closes the accountImpact level: Low
All points expire immediately if TD ends the agreement
Points don't expire while the account is open and in good standing. If TD ends the agreement for any reason, all points expire immediately. If you close or switch the card in good standing, you have 90 days to redeem.
Why it matters: Redeem regularly, and before closing the card.
2.5% FX fee, refunds converted lowerImpact level: Low
2.5% foreign currency fee, and refunds come back at a lower rate
Foreign currency purchases are converted at Visa's rate plus a fixed percentage, 2.5% on TD's Canadian dollar cards. Refunds are converted at Visa's rate minus the same percentage, so a refund is usually less than the original charge. This card's 6 points per $1 on foreign currency purchases is worth about 2.4% to 3%.
Why it matters: The 6x foreign currency rate roughly cancels the fee on purchases, but not the loss on refunds.

The Verdict
The TD Business Travel Visa earns 9 TD Rewards Points on Expedia For TD travel and 6 on dining, transit, EV charging, streaming, recurring bills and foreign currency purchases, with travel medical, trip and rental car insurance.
The fine print shrinks the numbers: points are worth 0.4¢ to 0.5¢, the best rates need Expedia For TD, 120,000 of the welcome points need $15,000 in 180 days, and the business, the applicant and the cardholder are all personally liable.
The Recommendation: Best for businesses that spend on dining, recurring bills and foreign currency, and book travel through Expedia. If you book travel directly with airlines and hotels, a card with flexible points or a fixed point value earns more.
